Unshaven Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE)

Follicular unit extraction is the most popular hair transplant technique. It’s more subtle than other hair transplant techniques and benefits from faster healing times. Our Wimpole Platinum surgeons have the requisite skill to perform unshaven FUE, which allows for even greater discretion throughout the recovery and regrowth phases.

Whether you opt for unshaven FUE or standard FUE, here’s how the process works for Wimpole Platinum patients.

Consultation at your convenience

We hold a consultation wherever it’s most convenient for you. We can travel to your home, invite you to the clinic via a private entrance, or conduct online consultations for speed and ease. It’s entirely your call.

At your consultation, we’ll discuss:

  • Your hair growth goals and the importance of hair loss management.
  • How many grafts you may need to achieve this (and whether it’s realistic for you).
  • What to expect as part of your Wimpole Platinum experience.

On the day of surgery

After arriving at the clinic in style and meeting our senior surgeon, you’ll change into surgical scrubs (to protect your clothes) and enter our premium surgical suite. You’ll receive local anaesthetic to numb your scalp.

Supported by our team of experienced technicians, the surgeon will then harvest grafts from the pre-agreed donor area using your chosen technique. They’ll also make cuts in the recipient area and place the grafts with extreme precision, ensuring appropriate angulation and depth.

You’ll remain at the clinic for around an hour after the surgery so we can monitor you, before being taken back to your hotel.

Aftercare

The day after your procedure you’ll return to the clinic for a hair wash and dressing change, so you’ll feel fresh and ready to return home.

It’s normal to feel some discomfort for the first couple of days after an FUE procedure, but we’ll supply all the care tips and medication you need to recover with ease.

A dedicated nurse will visit you at home soon after your procedure to check your grafts and ensure you’re healing well. This gives you peace of mind and can help you return to your normal routine as quickly as possible.

Follow-up

We’ll keep in close contact with you in the days, weeks, and months after your hair transplant. We check your growth regularly to ensure your results are as expected for each stage.

Additionally, we’ll schedule in a programme of regenerative treatments to support healthy growth and foster long-term results.
